When did these engineering terms take effect?

These terms took effect on October 30, 2026. Every project estimate, engineering audit, video player integration, retainer agreement, and architectural consultation conducted by BrightcoveOS follows this agreement from this verified date forward.

Any revisions to these terms are recorded with an updated effective date at the top of this document. We review commercial terms annually against prevailing web platform standards, Media Source Extensions (MSE) specifications, and local commercial regulations.

Who is the legal entity behind this engineering studio?

You are entering into these terms with Brightcoveos, trading at brightcoveos.com, an independent technical video engineering studio. Postal address, written out in full: 224 Southwest 1st Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97204, Portland, Oregon, United States.

The practice has been active since 2026, delivering specialized front-end media player configurations, CDN edge caching rules, and video streaming operations across the United States and international markets. Our studio contact for formal notices and data requests is [email protected] or by telephone at +1 (910) 555-9758.

What specific services does BrightcoveOS provide?

BrightcoveOS provides four core engineering offerings, utilizing dedicated video player libraries, video platforms, CDN routing consoles, and secure embed codes:

  • Video Player Configuration: Buffer window calibration, custom UI overlay development, adaptive bitrate switching profile configuration, and WCAG 2.1 AA keyboard navigation. Billed at $125–$200 USD per hour.
  • Video Player Website Integration: Framework encapsulation (React, Vue, vanilla JS), dynamic token validation, CSP header compliance, cross-origin playback handling, and telemetry integration. Billed at $125–$200 USD per hour.
  • Platform Maintenance & Content Support: Dedicated monthly retainer providing 20 engineering hours for continuous manifest health audits, CDN edge cache invalidation rules, player library upgrades, and stream reliability support. Billed at $3,000 USD per month.
  • Turnkey Video Project: Complete video architecture delivery from encoding profiles to global edge distribution over an 8 to 12 week deployment cycle. Fixed at $20,000 USD per project.

BrightcoveOS does not shoot marketing films, edit promotional footage, manage digital ad campaigns, or license creative media assets. We are strictly a technical engineering studio solving streaming playback, token verification, and delivery performance.

Can I purchase services or enter a contract directly on this site?

No. This website is inquiry-only. There is no shopping cart, no self-serve checkout, and no automated payment processing anywhere on brightcoveos.com. We do not accept credit card transactions, digital wallet payments, or immediate online orders through this domain.

All figures, rates, hourly estimates, and calculator outputs presented on this site are commercial baselines and do not constitute a binding quote or formal offer to contract. An inquiry becomes an active engagement only after we evaluate your technical specifications, issue a formal Statement of Work (SOW), and both parties execute a countersigned master services agreement.

How are engineering fees calculated and what changes a quote?

All fees are denominated and billed in United States Dollars (USD). Pricing is governed strictly by the operator confirmed parameters:

  • Hourly engineering rates sit at $125–$200 USD per hour for configuration and custom integration sprints.
  • Retainer engagements sit at $3,000 USD per month for 20 hours of guaranteed video engineering availability. Unused retainer hours do not roll over across billing cycles.
  • Turnkey projects are priced at $20,000 USD per project with defined milestones over 8 to 12 weeks.

Formal project quotes vary strictly based on six documented factors: the volume of integrations across different surfaces; project architectural complexity (such as DRM licensing or SSAI requirements); the number of operating platforms (desktop web, mobile web, hybrid webviews); whether custom UI design and development is needed; the required scope of ongoing maintenance and edge caching; and the delivery timeline requested.

What code warranty and engineering guarantees are provided?

We warrant that all custom player code, wrapper components, and secure embed scripts authored by BrightcoveOS will perform in material conformity with the agreed technical specifications for a period of 90 calendar days following client acceptance.

If playback fails during this 90-day warranty window due to defects in our delivered code under supported browser environments (current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge), we will patch and remediate the issue at zero additional cost. However, the site itself, bandwidth calculators, and informational materials on brightcoveos.com are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind.

We do not warrant against stream outages caused by upstream CDN backbone failures, third-party video platform API disruptions, or client-side DOM alterations introduced by third-party scripts after deployment.

What accessibility standards apply, and what conduct is prohibited?

All player UI controls engineered by BrightcoveOS are built to conform with WCAG 2.1 AA standards, with complete keyboard navigation, visible focus indicators, high-contrast control elements, and screen reader announcements for playback state changes.

When interacting with this website, you agree not to: submit malicious code, SQL injections, or automated payload scripts through inquiry forms; attempt unauthorized access to studio server infrastructure; probe or scan network endpoints for vulnerabilities; scrape site data using automated bots; or transmit false, fraudulent, or harassing inquiries to our engineering staff.

Who owns the code, documentation, and intellectual property?

Upon full payment of all contracted invoices, the client receives full, unencumbered ownership of all custom player wrapper code, bespoke UI component styling, and project-specific integration documentation authored specifically for that client.

BrightcoveOS retains all right, title, and interest in its pre-existing proprietary developer tooling, boilerplate initialization libraries, and internal deployment scripts. All text, technical diagrams, brand marks, and photographic assets displayed on brightcoveos.com are the proprietary property of BrightcoveOS and may not be copied, reproduced, or republished without prior written authorization.

What is the limit of liability under this agreement?

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BrightcoveOS shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, streaming revenue losses, viewer abandonment, or data corruption arising from video playback failures.

In all circumstances, our total aggregate liability arising out of or related to these terms or services provided under an active Statement of Work shall not exceed the total fees actually paid by the client to BrightcoveOS during the three (3) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to liability.

When can services or site access be terminated?

We reserve the right to immediately suspend or terminate access to this website, inquiry mechanisms, or active technical consultations if a visitor violates these terms, engages in hostile conduct, or attempts to compromise server security.

For contracted client engagements, either party may terminate a monthly maintenance retainer upon providing thirty (30) days written notice. Project-based engagements may be terminated for material breach if the breaching party fails to cure such breach within fourteen (14) calendar days of receiving written notice.

What law governs these terms, and where are disputes resolved?

These terms and all commercial agreements entered into with BrightcoveOS are governed by and construed in accordance with the substantive laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law.

Any legal action, suit, or proceeding arising out of or relating to these terms, our services, or work performed by the studio must be instituted exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon. Both parties irrevocably submit to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.

How will changes to these terms be announced?

We may modify these terms periodically to reflect operational changes, new browser capabilities, or legal requirements. When updates are published, the revised terms will be posted directly to brightcoveos.com/terms.html with an updated effective date timestamp.

Material updates affecting active retainer clients are communicated directly via email to the primary engineering liaison thirty (30) days prior to taking effect. Continued use of the website or engineering services following such publication constitutes binding acceptance of the updated terms.

Where do I send legal notices or questions regarding these terms?

All formal notices, legal inquiries, contractual questions, or code warranty claims must be delivered in writing to our Portland studio office:
